Pakistan Hockey Federation releases trial schedule for junior teams as preparations begin for the Men’s Hockey5s Asian Championship in Oman.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has officially unveiled the schedule for trials to select players for the Pakistan Under-21 (Junior) and Under-18 national hockey teams as preparations gather pace for upcoming international competitions.
According to an official PHF statement, the trials have been organized under the directives of PHF President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani.
The schedule has been finalized following recommendations from the PHF Professional Development Committee, the National Selection Committee, and the national head coaches to identify the country’s most promising young hockey talent.
U-21 and U-18 Trial Dates Confirmed
The PHF announced that trials for the Pakistan Under-21 team will take place on July 3 and July 4 at 5:00 pm at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, aspiring players for the Pakistan Under-18 squad will participate in trials on July 5 at 5:00 pm at the POF Hockey Academy in Wah Cantt.
The selection process will be overseen by the National Selection Committee led by Olympian Samiullah Khan. Other committee members include Olympians Naeem Akhtar, Nasir Ali, Kashif Jawad, Atif Bashir, and M. Khalid. The trials will also be supervised by Olympian Hasan Sardar, representing the PHF Professional Development Committee.
U-18 Training Camp Begins on July 1
In addition to the trials, the PHF has announced that the Pakistan Under-18 training camp for the upcoming Men’s Hockey5s Asian Championship will commence on July 1 at the POF Hockey Academy in Wah Cantt.
The camp will continue until July 18 as the team prepares for the continental tournament scheduled to be held in Muscat, Oman, from July 20 to July 25.
All selected players and team officials have been instructed to report to head coach Olympian Muhammad Qamar Ibrahim by 7:00 pm on July 1.
Camp Squad and Reporting Requirements
The training camp squad comprises four goalkeepers, four defenders, four midfielders, and ten forwards representing various departments and provinces, including Customs, Army, Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The coaching staff features head coach Olympian Muhammad Qamar Ibrahim, coach Olympian Rehan Butt, and physiotherapist Adil Akhtar.
The PHF has also directed all camp participants to report with their departmental No Objection Certificate (NOC), a passport valid for at least six months, eight passport-sized photographs with a white background, and both coloured and white playing kits to ensure smooth preparations for the international event.
