The Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme has begun in Islamabad, with eligible registered citizens able to obtain subsidised petrol at designated petrol stations.
ISLAMABAD, September 15, 2026: The Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme has been launched in Islamabad, providing subsidised petrol to eligible registered citizens at designated petrol stations.
Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja made a late-night surprise visit to several petrol pumps in Islamabad to inspect the implementation of the relief scheme.
The Secretary IT and senior officials of the Islamabad administration accompanied the minister during the visits.
During the inspection, Shaza Fatima interacted with citizens and sought feedback on difficulties they were facing with registration and the process of obtaining subsidised fuel.
She also explained key aspects of the registration procedure and urged eligible citizens to follow the prescribed process carefully to avoid difficulties in receiving the relief.
How to obtain subsidised petrol
The minister clarified that eligible citizens are required to register only once and do not need to repeat the registration process.
After registration, beneficiaries should send “TOK” to 9771 before visiting a designated petrol station to generate their fuel token.
The token must then be presented at the petrol station to obtain petrol at the subsidised rate.
The minister directed the Islamabad administration to ensure the uninterrupted provision of fuel relief to all eligible registered beneficiaries.
She also ordered strict monitoring of petrol stations participating in the scheme and directed authorities to take action against outlets found delaying or refusing to provide subsidised petrol to eligible citizens.
Citizens welcome fuel relief
Citizens receiving subsidised petrol expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the scheme and appreciated the government’s efforts to provide relief amid rising fuel prices.
Beneficiaries also thanked Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for introducing the fuel relief initiative to ease the impact of higher petrol prices on eligible citizens.
The minister’s inspection was aimed at ensuring that the scheme’s registration and fuel-disbursement mechanisms operate smoothly and that eligible beneficiaries receive the promised relief without unnecessary delays.
