PM Sharif expresses concerns over SC judgment on provincial elections

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed his concern over recent decisions made by the Supreme Court and claimed that they were making a mockery of the Constitution and laws of Pakistan.

During a meeting with coalition party leaders, the Prime Minister referred to a decision made by a three-judge bench regarding elections in two provinces and claimed that the fate of the nation was being decided with strange decisions.

He added that he had never seen such treatment of the Constitution and law before. He questioned how a decision of another bench was neglected, and highlighted the directive of the three-member bench with regard to the holding of elections in Punjab province and the observation over the election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Prime Minister stated that the purpose of the meeting with coalition parties was to discuss the situation and develop a solid response.
