Government moves to widen one-stop public services as Islamabad centre processes over 171,000 applications in nine months.
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the nationwide expansion of Pakistan Aasaan Khidmat Centres, directing authorities to provide faster, transparent and high-quality public services through greater collaboration with the private sector.
Chairing a meeting on the performance and expansion of the centres on Thursday, the prime minister said citizens should not have to make repeated visits to government offices to access essential services.
Shehbaz said providing multiple government services under one roof was a priority and directed officials to further reduce processing times at the Islamabad centre. He also ordered an expedited expansion of the facility and called for additional staff at service counters according to public demand.
The prime minister directed officials to present a third-party performance audit report to assess the centre’s operations and service delivery.
He also instructed authorities to accelerate work on centres in Muzaffarabad, Gilgit and Skardu and make them operational at the earliest. Immediate steps were also ordered to establish facilities in Peshawar and Bannu, with officials asked to prepare a comprehensive plan for using existing federal government buildings in both cities.
During the meeting, officials said the Islamabad Aasaan Khidmat Centre had processed more than 171,000 applications between January and September 2026.
According to the briefing, 99.5% of citizens expressed satisfaction with services provided at the centre, while the average service delivery time ranged between three and 10 minutes.
The meeting also reviewed progress on establishing centres in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The initiative is designed to simplify access to government services by bringing multiple facilities under one roof, reducing processing times and limiting visits to different departments.
Federal ministers Dr Musadik Masood Malik, Ahad Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, along with senior officials from relevant institutions, attended the meeting.
