Prime Minister tells Saudi Crown Prince Pakistan stands firmly with the Kingdom amid rising Red Sea security concerns

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday strongly condemned the recent attacks by Houthi militia on Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kingdom during a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

According to an official statement, the prime minister described the attacks as “totally unacceptable”, saying they constituted a clear violation of international law and posed a serious threat to freedom of navigation, commercial shipping, and regional peace and stability.

During what was described as a “most cordial” conversation, Shehbaz Sharif conveyed Pakistan’s strongest condemnation of the attacks and expressed full solidarity with the Saudi leadership and people.

The prime minister told the Crown Prince that he, along with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the people of Pakistan, stood firmly with the Kingdom during the current challenging situation.

He reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for Saudi Arabia’s security, sovereignty, territorial integrity and prosperity, underscoring the close strategic partnership between the two countries.

The attacks on Saudi oil tankers have intensified concerns over maritime security in the Red Sea, one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes and a vital route for global energy supplies and international trade.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy longstanding diplomatic, economic and defence ties, with Islamabad consistently reaffirming its commitment to the Kingdom’s security and regional stability amid evolving geopolitical developments in the Middle East.
