Saudi investors express interest in ports, energy, IT and infrastructure projects during high-level meeting in Islamabad

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening economic cooperation with Saudi Arabia, saying the government was focused on transforming longstanding bilateral ties into a broad-based and mutually beneficial economic partnership.

The remarks came during a meeting with a high-level Saudi business delegation at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, where both sides discussed investment opportunities and avenues for strengthening business-to-business engagement.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the delegation and recalled the visit of Prince Mansour and a Saudi business delegation to Pakistan in October 2025. He expressed optimism that the current visit would advance ongoing discussions and pave the way for the signing of memorandums of understanding and agreements across multiple sectors.

The prime minister also conveyed his greetings to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Mohammed bin Salman, underscoring the importance Pakistan attaches to its relationship with the Kingdom.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister for Communications Aleem Khan, Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kiyani, and other senior government officials.

Prince Mansour thanked the prime minister for the warm welcome and reiterated Saudi Arabia’s desire to strengthen commercial and investment ties with Pakistan. He said the Saudi business community was keen to explore opportunities across a wide range of sectors and expand its presence in the Pakistani market.

Members of the delegation highlighted their interest in investment opportunities related to ports, highways, airport outsourcing, energy, power distribution and information technology. The discussions reflected growing interest among Saudi investors in Pakistan’s infrastructure and development sectors.

Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed the interest and noted that agriculture and food security could also emerge as important areas of future cooperation. He said both countries could benefit from greater collaboration in sectors that support sustainable economic growth and long-term investment.

The Saudi delegation is scheduled to hold meetings with government officials and private-sector representatives during its visit to identify new investment opportunities and strengthen economic cooperation in line with the vision of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The visit underscores increasing momentum in economic engagement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as Islamabad seeks to attract foreign investment, expand strategic partnerships and support economic development.
