Islamabad, April 25, 2026 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast above-normal daytime temperatures in Islamabad for Sunday, April 26, 2026, as a prolonged spell of hot and dry weather grips large parts of the country.
According to the PMD, the federal capital and its surrounding areas are expected to experience hot and dry conditions, with temperatures remaining higher than usual during the day. Similar weather prevailed on Saturday, with authorities noting a continuing rise in heat intensity.
At the national level, the PMD has issued a heat advisory, warning that very hot weather is likely to persist across most plain areas of Pakistan over the next two to three days. The general public has been advised to take precautionary measures, particularly avoiding outdoor activities between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, when temperatures are expected to peak.
Meteorologists attributed the prevailing conditions to a continental air mass dominating most parts of the country, while a shallow westerly wave is affecting northern regions. This combination is contributing to stable, dry, and increasingly hot weather patterns across plains, while limited weather activity is expected in mountainous areas.
For Sunday, mainly hot and dry weather is expected across the country. However, isolated rain-windstorms or thunderstorms may occur in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly regions, offering temporary relief in those areas.
Over the past 24 hours, weather remained partly cloudy in upper regions, with scattered rainfall reported in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and parts of Punjab. Meanwhile, plain areas continued to experience intense heat.
The highest temperatures recorded in the country reached 45°C in cities such as Bahawalnagar, Khairpur, Dadu, and Larkana, highlighting the severity of the ongoing heatwave.
Authorities continue to urge citizens to stay hydrated, limit sun exposure, and follow safety guidelines to avoid heat-related illnesses as temperatures remain elevated.
