Islamabad, July 28, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting widespread thundershowers across the country on Monday, July 29, 2024.

The anticipated weather conditions include rain-windstorms and thundershowers affecting various regions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, upper and central Punjab, and Islamabad. Similar weather patterns are expected in South Punjab, Sindh, and northeast and south Balochistan during the evening and night hours.

The PMD has also indicated that heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Kashmir, northeast and southern Punjab, Sindh, northeast Balochistan, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The department emphasized that these weather conditions could lead to significant precipitation in the affected areas, potentially causing disruptions.

Synoptic Situation and Weather Developments

According to the PMD, moderate monsoon currents are currently penetrating from the Bay of Bengal into the upper and eastern parts of Pakistan. These currents are expected to extend into central and southern parts of the country starting July 29, bringing widespread thundershowers and rain-windstorms.
