PMD Forecasts Hot and Humid Day on September 25, 2024

Islamabad, September 24, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast for Wednesday, September 25, 2024, predicting a hot and humid day across most parts of the country. The prevailing synoptic situation suggests that continental air is dominating much of Pakistan, contributing to the elevated temperatures and discomfort in the atmosphere.

According to the PMD, while most regions will experience hot and humid conditions, there is a possibility of a rain-wind-thunderstorm in Kashmir and its surrounding areas during the evening or night. These sporadic showers may provide some relief to the northern regions, but most of the country will continue to grapple with the sweltering heat.

The PMD further elaborated that the weather on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, has also been marked by hot and dry conditions. As the country continues to face the extended summer heat, residents are advised to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the effects of heat, such as staying hydrated and avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun, especially during peak afternoon hours.

The temperatures recorded over the past 24 hours reflect the intensifying heat, with some regions hitting particularly high marks. Nokkundi in Balochistan recorded the highest maximum temperature at a scorching 43°C, followed by Bahawalpur and Dalbandin, both of which recorded 42°C. These temperatures underscore the intensity of the ongoing heatwave, which has been gripping various parts of Pakistan, particularly in the southern and western regions.

Despite the persistent heat, meteorologists are hopeful for some respite in the coming days, particularly in northern areas, where the possibility of isolated thunderstorms could bring cooler winds and lower temperatures. However, for most of the country, the PMD warns that the current weather pattern may persist, extending the period of discomfort associated with high heat and humidity.

Citizens, especially in urban centers, are urged to keep themselves updated on the weather forecast and plan their activities accordingly. With the expected continuation of high temperatures, it is important to remain cautious, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the old-age, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions.

As the country braces for another day of intense heat, the PMD will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
