PMD Forecasts Snowfall on Hills for February 5, 2024

Islamabad, February 4, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting snowfall on hills for Monday, February 5, 2024.

According to the forecast, the country will experience mainly cold and dry weather, but certain regions are expected to witness rain, wind-thunderstorm, and snowfall, particularly in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and adjacent hilly areas.

The PMD highlighted that a westerly wave is currently affecting most parts of the country and is likely to persist for the next 24 hours, contributing to the anticipated weather conditions. On Sunday, February 4, 2024, the weather was predominantly cold and dry in most areas. However, isolated occurrences of rain, wind-thunderstorm, and snowfall were reported in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, Galliyat, and upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Over the past 24 hours, cloudy weather prevailed across the country, leading to rain-thunderstorm activities, including snowfall over mountains, in various regions. The following is a breakdown of the recorded rainfall and snowfall in different areas:
