PMD Forecasts Thunderstorm for Upper Pakistan on June 5

PkRevenue.com — The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast thunderstorm in the upper regions of the country on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.

According to the PMD daily weather forecast, while most parts of Pakistan will experience mainly hot weather, the southern regions are expected to face very hot conditions. However, areas including Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, the Pothohar Region, upper Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should prepare for dust storms accompanied by rain and thunderstorm.

The PMD has attributed this weather change to a westerly wave affecting the upper and central parts of the country. On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, the PMD said most plain areas are also expected to remain hot. Nonetheless, isolated thunderstorm and dust storms are anticipated in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, the Pothohar Region, upper Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Over the past 24 hours, Pakistan has experienced predominantly hot and dry weather, with very hot conditions prevailing in the southern parts. Isolated incidents of dust storms and windstorms, accompanied by rain, were reported in upper Punjab, Astore, and Kalam.

Specific rainfall measurements recorded include:

• Punjab: Joharabad 10 mm, Hafizabad 8 mm, Sargodha 7 mm, Sheikhupura and Mandi Bahauddin 3 mm each, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Jhelum 1 mm each, Lahore (Airport & City) 1 mm, Sialkot (Airport & City) 1 mm.

• Gilgit-Baltistan: Astore 3 mm.

• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Kalam 1 mm.

Today’s highest maximum temperatures were recorded in:

• Jacobabad: 47°C

• Sibbi and Dadu: 46°C

• Mohenjodaro, Khairpur, DG Khan, Bahawalnagar: 45°C

• Sakrand, Rohri, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Okara, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, Kot Addu, Khanpur, Khanewal, DI Khan, Dalbandin: 44°C
