PMD Issues Weather Forecast for April 21, 2024

April 21, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released its weather forecast for Sunday, April 21, 2024, predicting predominantly dry conditions across most parts of the country.

However, the southern regions are expected to experience hot weather, while certain areas may witness light rain, wind, or thunderstorms.

The synoptic situation outlined by the PMD indicates the prevalence of continental air over much of the country, with a shallow westerly wave lingering in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Reflecting on the weather conditions observed on Saturday, April 20, 2024, the PMD noted similar patterns, with dry weather prevailing in most areas. However, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Waziristan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and surrounding hilly regions experienced sporadic rain, wind, or thunderstorms.

Over the past 24 hours, rainfall was recorded across several provinces and regions, including Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Punjab, North Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Notable rainfall measurements include:

• Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa: Malam Jabba 91mm, Cherat 74mm, Bacha Khan Airport 65mm, and various other regions.

• Kashmir: Rawalakot 38mm, Muzaffarabad 29mm, Garhi Dopatta 26mm, and Kotli 12mm.

• Punjab: Narowal 23mm, Murree 21mm, and various other regions.

• Gilgit-Baltistan: Bagrote 6mm, Gupis 1mm.

• Balochistan: Quetta 3mm, Zhob 3mm.

Additionally, the highest maximum temperatures recorded on Saturday were Mithi at 39°C, followed by Shaheed Benazirabad at 38°C, and several other regions at 37°C.
