PMD Predicts Thunderstorms Across Pakistan on March 29, 2024

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast indicating thunderstorms and rain in various regions of Pakistan for Friday, March 29, 2024.

According to the PMD, these weather conditions are expected to affect several parts of the country, with particular emphasis on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, central and upper Punjab, and northern Balochistan. Additionally, southern parts of the country may experience dust storms or dust-raising winds.

The synoptic situation, as reported by the PMD, suggests the influence of a westerly wave over central and upper regions of Pakistan, with a likelihood of persisting until March 31, 2024.

Looking back at the weather over the past 24 hours, rain, wind, and thunderstorms were observed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north and northeastern Balochistan, the Pothohar region, upper and central Punjab, as well as Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Partly cloudy conditions prevailed in other areas of the country during this period.

• Balochistan: Zhob 10, Quetta (City, Samungli 02), Barkhan 01.

• Punjab: Chakwal 09, Bhakkar 08, Karoor (Layyah) 05, Rawalpindi (Chaklala 05, Kacheri, Shamsabad 03), Islamabad (Airport 05, Zero Point 03, Bokra 02, Golra, Saidpur 01), Murree 04, Attock, Jhelum, Joharabad, Mangla 02, Jhang, Noorpur Thal, Sargodha 01.

• Kashmir: Rawalakot 06, Garhi Dupta 01, Muzaffarabad (City, Airport 01).

• Gilgit-Baltistan: Astore 05, Bagrote, Skardu 02, Gilgit and Gupis 01.

Furthermore, the highest maximum temperatures recorded yesterday (in degrees Celsius) were as follows:

• Shaheed Benazirabad: 42

• Mithi: 41

• Chhor, Tando Jam, Hyderabad, Padidan, and Sakrand: 39.
