The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts isolated rain, strong winds and thunderstorms in Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, while hot and humid weather persists across most of the country.
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast isolated rain, wind and thunderstorms in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Monday, September 7, 2026.
According to the PMD weather outlook, hot and humid conditions are expected to persist across most parts of Pakistan. However, isolated rain-wind/thunderstorm activity is likely in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Weather Forecast for September 6 and 7
For Sunday, September 6, hot and humid weather is expected across most areas, while isolated rain and thunderstorms are forecast in central Punjab and Kashmir.
Similar activity is also likely in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the evening and night.
The PMD said moist currents are penetrating the upper and central parts of the country, while a shallow westerly wave is present over the upper regions.
Rainfall Recorded Across Pakistan
Rain-wind/thunderstorms, including isolated heavy falls, were recorded in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, hot and humid conditions continued across the southern parts of the country.
In Punjab, Sargodha City received the highest rainfall at 35mm, followed by Sheikhupura with 33mm and Lahore Airport with 23mm. Lahore City recorded 22mm, while Chakwal received 19mm and Faisalabad 15mm.
Rawalpindi also received rainfall at several locations, with New Kattarian recording 10mm, Shamsabad 8mm, Chaklala 7mm, Gawalmandi 3mm, Katcheri 2mm and Pirwadahi 1mm.
Other rainfall totals in Punjab included Hafizabad and Jhang, Sialkot City 9mm, Sahiwal 7mm, Kasur 6mm, Gujranwala 5mm, Toba Tek Singh and Joharabad 4mm, and Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat 3mm.
Rainfall in KP, Kashmir and GB
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dir received 34mm of rain, while Bannu recorded 18mm.
Kalam, Saidu Sharif, Pattan, Kakul, Balakot and Parachinar each received 2mm.
In Kashmir, Muzaffarabad City recorded 30mm, while its airport received 25mm. Kotli recorded 1mm.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, Astore received 5mm, Babusar 2mm and Gupis 1mm.
Sibi, Nokundi and Dadu Record 42°C
The highest maximum temperature recorded in the country during the past 24 hours was 42°C, recorded in Sibi, Nokundi and Dadu.
The latest PMD forecast indicates that most parts of Pakistan will continue to experience hot and humid conditions, while isolated rainfall and thunderstorms could provide temporary relief in northern and upper regions.
