Karachi, December 26, 2023: The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has provided a detailed account of the shipping activity that unfolded on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, offering valuable insights for stakeholders.

Five prominent vessels, namely MSC Singapore, Al-Jalaa, Leena, Saehan Kostar, and Lila Forntier, were scheduled for loading and unloading operations involving containers, fuel oil, cement, palm oil, and chemicals. These ships gracefully berthed at various terminals including the Container Terminal, Oil Terminal, General Cargo Terminal, Liquid Terminal, and Engro Terminal, each handling specific cargo types throughout the day.

Adding to the maritime buzz, three additional ships, MSC Jemima, Pacific Victory, and Simaisma, graced the outer anchorage of Port Qasim in the last 24 hours. These vessels were designated for handling containers, coal, and LNG, contributing to the port’s diverse and bustling shipping activities.

In the preceding day, a total of seven ships were actively engaged at PQA berths, enhancing the port’s operational efficiency. Among them, the container ship ‘MSC Singapore’ set sail from the port early on Tuesday morning, marking the continuation of its journey.

The cargo landscape at Port Qasim witnessed significant movements, with a total cargo volume of 51,350 tonnes being handled within the last 24 hours. This impressive figure comprised 27,049 tonnes of imported cargo and 24,301 tonnes of exported cargo. The cargo was meticulously stowed in 1,293 containers, showcasing the port’s role as a vital hub for global trade. Among these containers, 420 TEUs were dedicated to imports, while 873 TEUs were allocated for exports.

As the day unfolded, five ships lingered at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim, each awaiting its turn to take berths at crucial terminals. Three of these ships, MSC Jemima, Pacific Victory, and Simaisma, were poised to dock at QICT, PIBT, and EETL respectively on Tuesday, further reinforcing the port’s strategic importance in facilitating trade and commerce.

The diverse range of cargoes handled, combined with the seamless coordination of arrivals and departures, reflects the Port Qasim Authority’s commitment to maintaining operational excellence.
