Karachi, July 25, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for Thursday, July 25, 2024, providing essential details to stakeholders about recent and upcoming maritime activities.
The report highlights the bustling activity at Port Qasim, one of Pakistan’s key maritime hubs, showcasing its vital role in facilitating the country’s trade.
According to the report, four ships—EF Amma, Ceylon Breeze, Xin Hai Tong, and Bateleur—arrived at Port Qasim on Wednesday. These vessels berthed at the Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose-2 & 4 Terminals, and Sui Southern Gas Terminal, respectively. Their cargo included a diverse range of goods such as containers, cement, coal, and LPG, reflecting the port’s capacity to handle varied types of shipments efficiently.
Additionally, two more ships, Gulf Diamond and Epic Sunter, arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim early this morning. These ships are scheduled to load and offload rice and LPG, further underscoring the port’s strategic importance in managing essential commodities.
Over the past 24 hours, a total of seven ships were engaged at PQA berths. Of these, three ships—EF Amma, Hafnia Seine, and Al-Thakira—departed the port this morning, while another ship, Fisher, is expected to sail this afternoon. This level of activity highlights the port’s capability to manage high traffic and ensure quick turnaround times for vessels.
During the same period, the port handled a substantial cargo volume of 53,395 tonnes, comprising 42,570 tonnes of import cargo and 10,825 tonnes of export cargo. This cargo was carried in 315 containers (315 TEUs of imports), illustrating the port’s significant role in both import and export operations.
At the outer anchorage of Port Qasim, five ships are currently stationed. Among them, Gulf Diamond and Bolan, along with four additional ships—MSC Positano, Maersk Cairo, Seaspan Ganges, and ONE Modern—are scheduled to take berths at FAP, FOTCO, and QICT. These vessels will load and offload rice, mogas, and containers, showcasing the port’s diverse handling capabilities.
Port Qasim continues to facilitate a high volume of maritime trade, ensuring the smooth handling of diverse cargoes.
