Port Qasim Releases Shipping Report for February 13, 2024

Karachi, February 13, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for February 13, 2024, providing essential information for stakeholders and highlighting the bustling maritime activities in the region.

On the 12th of February 2024, three prominent vessels – MSC Spring-III, Southern Anoa, and Beks Nazik – successfully berthed at Port Qasim. These ships were laden with containers, palm oil, and wheat, and docked at the Container Terminal, Liquid Terminal, and Grain Terminal, respectively.

In the past 24 hours, four additional ships, namely Weco Madeleine, Corona, Stockholm Eagle, and Lokoja, have arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. These vessels bring a diverse cargo, including palm oil, coal, and liquefied natural gas (LNG), underlining the port’s importance as a multifaceted trade hub.

During this period, a total of six ships have been actively engaged at PQA berths. The chemical carrier ‘Arpeggio’ left the port earlier today, while the departure of another container ship, MSC Spring-III, is anticipated later in the day.

The cargo-handling operations at Port Qasim have been robust, with a total volume of 97,657 tonnes managed in the last 24 hours. This impressive figure comprises 66,769 tonnes of imported cargo and 30,888 tonnes of exported cargo. The cargo was distributed among 3,000 containers, with 1,800 TEUs dedicated to imports and 1,200 TEUs for exports.

Looking ahead, the maritime activities at Port Qasim are expected to remain dynamic. Currently, 11 ships are positioned at the outer anchorage. Notably, three of these vessels – Epic Sunter, Lokoja, and Stockholm Eagle – carrying LPG, LNG, and coal, respectively, are slated to take berths at EVTL, PGPCL, and PIBT today, on the 13th of February. Additionally, two more container ships, Maersk Columbus and America, are scheduled to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday, the 14th of February 2024.

The consistent influx of ships and diverse cargo highlights Port Qasim’s pivotal role in facilitating international trade and fostering economic activities in the region. As a crucial gateway, the port continues to play a vital role in connecting Pakistan to the global market, ensuring the smooth flow of goods and contributing to the country’s economic prosperity.
