Karachi, January 19, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released a comprehensive report on shipping activity to keep stakeholders informed and facilitate efficient operations on Friday, January 19, 2024.

The bustling maritime activities at the port involved a diverse range of vessels handling various cargo types, reflecting the port’s strategic significance in facilitating international trade.

On Thursday, six ships named Meratus Jayakarta, Lucky Star, Victoria Kosan, Benue, Ullswater, and Jal Kalpavriksh were reported to have berthed at different terminals of Port Qasim. These ships were engaged in transporting containers, palm oil, chemicals, liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquid petroleum gas (LPG), and coal, showcasing the port’s versatility in handling a wide array of commodities. The ships berthed at Container Terminal, Liquid Terminal, Engro Terminal, Gas Terminal, Sui Southern Gas Terminal, and Bulk Cargo Terminal, respectively.

Simultaneously, seven more ships – Wide Alpha, RDO Concord, Hafnia Raven, Bolan, Sea Delta, Al-Ruwais, and IVS Windsor – arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. These vessels are slated to handle containers, petroleum products, chemicals, LNG, and coal, indicating the port’s ongoing role as a critical hub for trade and commerce in the region.

During the past 24 hours, a total of ten ships were engaged at PQA berths. The bulk cargo carrier, ‘Poly-World,’ left the port, while five more ships – Lucky Star, Parnassos, Victoria Kosan, Hafnia Myna, and Wide Alpha – are expected to sail in the afternoon of the same day.

The port handled a cargo volume of 165,334 tonnes during the last 24 hours. This included 117,112 tonnes of imported cargo and 48,222 tonnes of exported cargo, carried in 1,500 containers (1,300 TEUs for import and 200 TEUs for export). These figures underscore the port’s efficiency in managing a significant flow of goods and contribute to the country’s trade dynamics.

As of now, there are 11 ships at the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim. Among them, five ships – Wide Alpha, RDO Concord, Hafnia Raven, Ashico Victoria, and Al-Ruwais – are expected to take berths at QICT, FOTCO, MW-2, and EETL on January 19th. Additionally, three container ships – AS Sicilia, CMA CGM Nabucco, and X-Press Salween – are anticipated to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday, further highlighting the continuous maritime activities in the coming days.
