Karachi, August 27, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for Tuesday, August 27, 2024, providing detailed insights into the bustling operations at one of Pakistan’s key maritime hubs.
According to the report, a total of nine ships were berthed at various terminals of Port Qasim on Monday. These vessels included MSC Silvia, MSC Positano, APL Antwerp, SSL Brahmaputra, Yateeka, Inlaco Express, GW Mathil De, Amorgos, and Marangas Asclepius. These ships were carrying a diverse range of cargo, including containers, palm oil, DAP (Diammonium Phosphate), coal, and LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). They were berthed at the Container Terminal, Liquid Terminal, Grain Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Electric Power Terminal, and Elengy Terminal, respectively.
In addition to the ships that berthed, four more ships arrived at the outer anchorage of the port during the last 24 hours. These vessels, Maersk Denver, Sino Wisdom, Hafnia Excelsior, and Golden Denise, were carrying containers, palm oil, Mogas (motor gasoline), and chemicals.
During the same period, a total of fifteen ships were actively engaged at the PQA berths. Out of these, six ships, namely MSC Silvia, APL Antwerp, SSL Brahmaputra, Chemroute Pegasus, Bolan, and Serenity Gas, departed from the port on Tuesday morning. Additionally, another LNG carrier, Asklipios, is expected to set sail later today.
The port handled a significant cargo volume of 238,377 tonnes over the last 24 hours. This volume comprised 210,875 tonnes of import cargo and 27,502 tonnes of export cargo. The cargo was transported in a total of 5,712 containers, which included 4,110 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) of import containers and 1,602 TEUs of export containers.
At present, six ships are anchored at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Among these, three vessels — Maersk Denver, Lydia, and Tivoli Park, carrying containers, Mogas, and chemicals respectively, are scheduled to berth at the Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT), FOTCO Oil Terminal, and Engro Vopak Terminal Limited (EVTL) today. Meanwhile, two additional container ships, Maersk Cape Town and X-Press Mekong, are expected to arrive at the port on Wednesday.
