Port Qasim Reveals Robust Shipping Activity in Latest Report

Karachi, January 30, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has unveiled its shipping activity report for Tuesday, January 30, 2024, providing a comprehensive overview of the port’s bustling operations.

The report aims to keep stakeholders informed about the recent activities, showcasing the diversity and efficiency of operations at the prominent Pakistani port.

Five ships, namely MSC Mumbai-VIII, Maersk Atlanta, MSC Yukta-X, Encore, and Tromso, were prominently featured in the report, scheduled to load and offload various commodities such as Containers, Rice, and Palm oil. These vessels berthed at different terminals, including the Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, and Liquid Terminal during the preceding 24 hours.

The shipping report also highlighted the arrival of the bulk cargo carrier ‘Sea Bird,’ which anchored at the outer-anchorage of Port Qasim to load an impressive 41,900 tonnes of Rice during the same period.

According to the report, eleven ships were actively engaged at PQA berths within the last 24 hours. Among them, MSC Mumbai-VIII and Simaisma have already departed from the port earlier today, while the petroleum product ship ‘Sunrise’ is expected to set sail later in the day.

The cargo throughput at Port Qasim during the reporting period amounted to a substantial 115,955 tonnes. This figure comprised 88,553 tonnes of imported cargo and 27,402 tonnes of exported cargo, encompassing a total of 3,748 Containers (2,158 TEUs for imports and 1,590 TEUs for exports).

At the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, there are currently four ships, with three of them – Maersk Boston, Al-Deebal, and African Hornbill – carrying Containers, LNG, and Coal, respectively. These vessels are expected to take berths at QICT, EVTL, and PIBT today. Additionally, three more container ships, namely Marathopous, Cap Andreas, and Maersk Pittsburgh, are anticipated to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday, adding to the dynamic maritime landscape of the port.

The released report not only provides a snapshot of the current shipping activities but also serves as a testament to Port Qasim’s pivotal role in facilitating trade and commerce in the region. The continuous flow of ships, diverse cargo handling, and upcoming arrivals underscore the port’s significance as a crucial gateway for international trade in Pakistan.
