Karachi, May 23, 2025 — Port Qasim, one of Pakistan’s busiest maritime gateways, reported robust shipping activity over the past 24 hours, reflecting a steady rhythm in trade and cargo movement.
According to the latest update issued by the Port Qasim Authority (PQA) at 0800 hours on Friday, May 23, 2025, several vessels were actively engaged in berthing, loading, and departure operations, ensuring uninterrupted flow in port logistics.
The port activity log shows that the vessel M.V. Sakizaya Unicorn, carrying a massive consignment of 68,815 metric tons of soybean seed, successfully departed from the Pakistan International Bulk Terminal (PIBT) at 3:00 PM. Operated by Ocean Services, this ship’s movement marked a significant outbound cargo milestone for the day, as shipping operations at the port remain essential to the country’s agro-import supply chain.
In terms of inbound port activity, two vessels were recorded as newly berthed. M.V. Seaspan Calicanto, a container vessel with a length of 209 meters, berthed at Qasim International Terminal 2 (QT2-II) under the agency of GAC Shipping. This container ship is part of the port’s routine operations that handle a significant portion of Pakistan’s containerized shipping traffic.
Additionally, the tanker M.T. INF Light arrived and docked at the Fauji Oil Terminal and Distribution Company (FOTCO) facility later in the evening. The arrival of this energy transport vessel plays a crucial role in maintaining the port’s fuel and energy shipping activity flow.
Port Qasim’s continuous maritime operations underscore its strategic significance in Pakistan’s trade and logistics infrastructure. The efficient handling of vessels across multiple terminals — from containers to bulk cargo and oil tankers — ensures that port activity remains aligned with the country’s economic throughput goals.
As shipping activity intensifies across Pakistan’s coastline, Port Qasim continues to position itself as a vital node in South Asia’s maritime trade landscape. With each vessel it services, the port contributes to Pakistan’s broader economic ambitions, facilitating smoother trade routes and bolstering supply chains both domestically and internationally.
