PQA Releases Shipping Activity Report for February 14, 2024

Karachi, February 14, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has published its Shipping Activity Report for February 14, 2024, providing a comprehensive overview of maritime activities to assist stakeholders in the industry.

The report details the movement of vessels, cargo types, and upcoming berthing schedules at Port Qasim, a crucial hub for trade and commerce in Pakistan.

During the last 24 hours, four ships – Bow Endeavor, Epic Sunter, Lokoja, and Stockholm Eagle – berthed at different terminals within Port Qasim. These vessels were involved in transporting Palm oil, LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), LNG (liquefied natural gas), and Coal, contributing to the port’s diverse shipping activity.

The Liquid Terminal welcomed Bow Endeavor carrying Palm oil, while Epic Sunter docked at Engro Terminal with a load of LPG. Lokoja, transporting LNG, berthed at the Gas Terminal, and Stockholm Eagle, laden with coal, utilized the Bulk Terminal. These movements underscore the versatility of Port Qasim in handling various commodities, showcasing its significance in facilitating international trade.

Additionally, two more ships, Visayas and America, anchored at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same period. These vessels are scheduled to load and offload Rice and Containers, adding to the port’s overall shipping dynamics.

The report reveals that seven ships were actively engaged at PQA berths during the past 24 hours. Notably, the edible oil carrier, ‘Southern Anoa,’ left the port on the morning of February 14th, 2024.

In terms of cargo handling, a total of 87,293 tonnes were managed at the port during the reporting period. The cargo included 87,084 tonnes of imported goods and 204 tonnes of export cargo, carried in 42 containers (30 TEUs of imports and 12 TEUs of exports). This highlights the substantial flow of goods through Port Qasim, indicating the port’s crucial role in facilitating trade activities.

Looking ahead, there are currently 10 ships at the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim. Among them, two ships, America and Taho Australia, along with the oil tanker ‘Khairpur,’ are expected to take berths at QICT, LCT, and FOTCO, respectively, on February 14th. Furthermore, two container ships, Seaspan Beacon and Maersk Cape Town, are anticipated to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday, February 15th, 2024, underscoring the continuous flow of maritime traffic at the port.
