Enforcement drive targets defaulters, with food outlets, builders and housing societies penalised for tax violations.
LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has intensified enforcement actions against tax defaulters across multiple cities in Punjab, sealing nine business premises and issuing warning notices to several other establishments.
According to a PRA spokesperson, the action was taken after the detection of non-payment of taxes and tampering with official records in various cases.
In Lahore, PRA teams sealed three outlets of a well-known food chain after identifying manipulation and tampering in tax-related documentation. The enforcement action forms part of an ongoing effort to ensure compliance with provincial tax regulations.
In Rawalpindi, the offices of two construction companies were sealed for failing to pay outstanding taxes. Meanwhile, in Faisalabad, four housing societies were issued notices over non-payment of taxes, with enforcement measures also taken against their administrative offices.
The authority also imposed heavy penalties on individuals and businesses found involved in fraudulent tax declarations and failure to file returns within the prescribed deadlines.
PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra stated that strict action will be taken against businesses that fail to comply with the Point of Sale (POS) system requirements. He added that notices are being issued to entities involved in tax fraud and practices causing losses to the national exchequer.
He emphasised that the PRA is pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against persistent tax defaulters and will continue enforcement operations to ensure full compliance with tax laws across Punjab.
The ongoing crackdown reflects the authority’s broader efforts to strengthen tax collection, improve documentation, and curb evasion in both the formal and informal business sectors.
