Punjab Revenue Authority Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra orders faster business registration, E-IMS installation and strict action against fake receipts.

LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has directed its commissionerates to strengthen tax enforcement, identify new taxable services and accelerate the registration of businesses across the province.

PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra issued these directives while chairing a performance review meeting of the Lahore and Rawalpindi Commissionerates on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the chairman instructed all commissionerates to develop effective strategies for identifying previously untaxed services and bringing them into the tax net.

He also directed officials to speed up new business registrations and installation of the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (E-IMS).

Specific targets were assigned to relevant officers to increase E-IMS installations across 14 designated sectors. Enforcement teams will also be established to ensure compliance with registration and electronic invoicing requirements.

The chairman stressed the importance of monitoring pending tax cases and ensuring timely recovery of outstanding dues.

He urged the authority to strengthen cooperation with the business community, particularly through chambers of commerce and relevant trade associations, to facilitate the integration of businesses with E-IMS.

Sipra also ordered strict monitoring of businesses suspected of manipulating or tampering with their records despite having the electronic invoicing system installed.

He warned that strict action would be taken against businesses issuing fake receipts, while tax surcharges would also be imposed on those found involved in such practices.
