PSL 10 Match 25: Peshawar Zalmi outclass Multan by 7 wickets

Multan, May 5, 2025 — In a one-sided encounter of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, Peshawar Zalmi delivered a commanding all-round performance to crush Multan Sultans by seven wickets, chasing down a modest target of 109 with 42 balls to spare.

This vital win keeps Zalmi firmly in contention for the playoffs, drawing them closer to Lahore Qalandars in the points table.

Electing to bat first in their home ground, Multan’s strategy backfired. Zalmi’s bowlers, led by the impressive Ahmed Daniyal, ran riot as they bundled out Multan Sultans for just 108 in 19.1 overs. Daniyal finished with match-winning figures of 3/17 in four overs. Supporting him were Maaz Sadaqat and Luke Wood, who chipped in with two wickets each, while Alzarri Joseph, Saim Ayub, and Ali Raza took one apiece.

Multan struggled right from the powerplay. Openers Yasir Khan (10) and captain Mohammad Rizwan (17) fell cheaply, and despite Tayyab Tahir’s brief 22-run counterattack, Multan lost wickets in quick succession. Shai Hope tried to stabilize the innings with a composed 23, but lacked support from the middle and lower order. A total collapse saw Multan lose their last eight wickets for just 42 runs.

In response, Peshawar Zalmi showed early jitters as Mitchell Owen fell for 1 in the opening over. However, a 49-run second-wicket stand between Saim Ayub (49 off 33) and Babar Azam steadied the innings. Ayub’s stroke-filled knock featured four boundaries and three sixes before he was removed by the standout bowler for Multan, Shahid Aziz, who claimed two wickets.

Aziz also dismissed Babar, who struggled for rhythm with just 8 off 13 balls. Nonetheless, Paul Bryant anchored Zalmi’s chase with an unbeaten 38 off 20, laced with five fours and a six. His match-winning 40-run partnership with Mohammad Haris (7* off 10) sealed the win with ease.

This win marks Peshawar Zalmi’s fourth of the season, a critical boost to their playoff aspirations. For Multan, the defeat further dents their momentum heading into the closing phase of PSL 10. Both teams will look to regroup quickly as the tournament intensifies.
