PSO and KPC celebrate 50 years of fuel supply cooperation and explore wider partnerships in refining, storage, logistics and petroleum products.
KARACHI: Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO) and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) have marked 50 years of strategic cooperation, highlighting a five-decade supply relationship that has supported Pakistan’s energy security through changing market conditions and global disruptions.
The partnership has enabled uninterrupted supplies of Gasoil and Jet Fuel to Pakistan for half a century, making it one of the longest-running commercial relationships in the country’s energy sector.
Senior officials from both companies gathered to commemorate the milestone and discuss opportunities for expanding cooperation in the coming years.
PSO said the relationship had remained resilient despite shifts in international energy markets and changes in the broader global energy landscape.
The company expressed appreciation to the Government of Pakistan, the Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Energy and the National Commodity Management Committee (NCMC) for their policy support and role in facilitating long-term energy cooperation.
PSO, KPC explore broader energy partnership
PSO said the 50-year milestone would serve as a foundation for further collaboration rather than an endpoint.
The two companies are exploring opportunities to expand cooperation beyond their existing fuel supply arrangement, including product partnerships involving Motor Gasoline, LPG and other petroleum products.
Potential collaboration is also being considered in refining, petroleum storage infrastructure and terminal facilities, alongside shipping and logistics arrangements aimed at improving the resilience and efficiency of Pakistan’s energy supply chain.
The companies are also looking at deeper energy cooperation aligned with the strategic priorities of Pakistan and Kuwait, including their longer-term sustainability objectives.
Pakistan-Kuwait energy ties
A PSO spokesperson thanked Sheikh Khaled Ahmad Al Sabah, Managing Director International Marketing at KPC, and the KPC leadership for their continued commitment to the partnership.
The spokesperson also acknowledged Jawwad Ahmed Cheema, Chief Executive Officer of PSO, for his role in strengthening the company’s international partnerships and supporting Pakistan’s energy interests.
“The bond between Kuwait and Pakistan transcends business; it is founded on solidarity, mutual respect and friendship between two nations,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added that PSO and KPC remained committed to converting the longstanding relationship between the two countries into sustainable economic and energy value for Pakistan.
PSO said it looks forward to welcoming Sheikh Khaled Ahmad Al Sabah and the KPC delegation to Pakistan to formally commemorate the 50-year milestone and establish a roadmap for the next five decades of cooperation.
The company said combining the expertise, resources and capabilities of PSO and KPC would help strengthen Pakistan’s energy security, support economic growth and contribute to a more sustainable energy future.
