Karachi, May 19, 2025 – The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday officially announced a scheduled trading holiday for Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer.
In a formal notice issued to all stakeholders, the PSX stated that all trading operations will remain suspended for the day, following the federal government’s declaration of a public holiday.
The holiday marks Youm-e-Takbeer, a significant day in Pakistan’s national history commemorating the successful nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, in the Chagai district of Balochistan. These nuclear tests elevated Pakistan to the status of the seventh nuclear-armed state in the world and the first Islamic country to achieve this milestone.
The PSX highlighted the importance of this national holiday, which symbolizes Pakistan’s achievement of credible minimum deterrence and its commitment to regional stability.
