PSX declares 385 percent increase in after tax quarterly profit

KARACHI: Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday announced a 385 percent increase in profit after tax for quarter ended September 30, 2020.

According to the financial results, the stock exchange declared Rs152.6 million as profit after tax for the quarter ended September 30, 2020 as compared with Rs31.46 million in the corresponding period of the last year.

Total revenue of the exchange grew by 38.7 percent to Rs318.1 million for the quarter under review as compared with Rs229.33 million in the same period of the last year.

Under the head of revenue, the listing fee grew by 34 percent to Rs133.59 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2020 as compared with Rs99.82 million in the same period of the last year.

The revenue through exchange operation registered growth of 98 percent to Rs154.61 million for the quarter under review as compared with 78.2 million in the corresponding quarter of the last year.

However, interest income under the head of revenue fell by 55 percent to Rs17.83 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2020 as compared with Rs39.95 million in the same quarter of the last year.

Operation cost of the PSX witnessed 5.32 percent increase to Rs287 million as compared with Rs272.48 million in the same period of the last year.

The profit before tax of the PSX registered 72 percent growth to Rs128.81 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2020 as compared with Rs74.9 million in the same quarter of the last year.
