PTA urges mobile users to enable VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling for better connectivity

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has advised consumers to check their mobile network settings and activate compatible calling technologies to improve voice quality, reduce call connection delays and stay connected in areas with weak signals.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has urged mobile phone users to make better use of advanced network features, including Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Wi-Fi Calling, to improve their calling experience and connectivity.

The authority said consumers experiencing unclear voice quality or delays when connecting 4G/LTE calls should check their phone’s network settings and ensure that the 4G/LTE option is enabled. Users should also confirm that both their handset and SIM support 4G services.

VoLTE Can Improve Call Quality

Voice over LTE allows voice calls to be made over a 4G network. According to the PTA, the technology can improve voice quality and help calls connect more quickly.

To use the service, consumers need a compatible mobile phone and SIM, as well as support from their mobile network operator. Users are advised to check their device settings and enable VoLTE where available.

Wi-Fi Calling Helps in Weak-Signal Areas

The PTA also highlighted the benefits of Wi-Fi Calling, also known as Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi), particularly in locations where mobile signals are weak.

These services allow compatible phones to make calls using a Wi-Fi connection, which can be useful inside homes, basements and other areas with limited mobile network coverage.

Consumers need to enable the Wi-Fi Calling option in their phone settings and connect to a Wi-Fi network. The service is available only where the handset and mobile operator support the technology.

Check Device and Operator Compatibility

The PTA has advised users to contact their respective mobile network operators for information about the availability, activation and use of VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling.

The authority emphasised that access to these features depends on compatibility between the mobile phone, SIM and relevant operator. Checking the available settings and enabling supported services can help consumers make better use of their existing connectivity options.
