Islamabad, February 2, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted shallow to moderate fog in many districts of Punjab over the next 24 hours.
Cold and dry weather will dominate most parts of the province, while the northern regions, including Murree and Galliyat, are expected to experience very cold conditions with partly cloudy skies.
In the central and eastern regions of Punjab, including Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Hafizabad, dense fog is expected in the early morning hours, reducing visibility and impacting travel conditions. The PMD has advised commuters to exercise caution, particularly on motorways and highways where visibility may drop significantly.
Sunday Night Outlook
As the night progresses, cold and dry weather will continue across most districts of Punjab, with a noticeable dip in temperatures. In Murree, Galliyat, and their surrounding areas, the weather will be particularly chilly, with a likelihood of partly cloudy conditions. Fog will remain a significant concern in the northeastern parts of the province, with similar districts, including Lahore, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Hafizabad, being affected.
National Weather Overview
At the national level, a continental air system is prevailing across most parts of the country, while a weak westerly wave is expected to approach the western regions by Monday.
• Sunday: Cold and dry weather is forecasted for most of Pakistan. However, very cold and partly cloudy conditions with light rain and snow over the hills are expected at isolated locations in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Northeast Punjab may continue experiencing foggy conditions.
• Monday: Similar conditions will persist, with light rain and snow possible over the hills in Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Northwestern Balochistan might also experience light rain. Meanwhile, northeastern Punjab will continue to experience morning fog.
Past 24-Hour Weather Conditions
Cold and dry weather prevailed across most parts of Pakistan. However, 1 mm of rain was recorded in Kakul. Shallow to moderate fog was observed in northeastern Punjab, affecting visibility and transportation.
