Punjab Weather: Intermittent Rains, Gusty Winds to Persist

Islamabad, March 10, 2025 – The weather in Punjab is expected to remain unstable as intermittent rains accompanied by gusty winds continue across various districts.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast scattered rains, isolated hailstorms, and snowfall in higher-altitude areas for Monday night through Wednesday.

Snowfall is also likely in Murree and Galiyat, making travel challenging due to slippery roads and possible closures.

According to the PMD, a shallow westerly wave is currently affecting the upper regions of Pakistan, influencing the weather patterns in Punjab. As a result, most districts will experience dry to partly cloudy conditions on Monday night, Tuesday, and Wednesday. However, rains and gusty winds are expected in several districts, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, and Lahore. Additionally, Murree and Galiyat may witness a combination of rains and light snowfall.

The PMD has warned that wet conditions may impact road travel, particularly in Murree and Galiyat, where slippery roads and localized snowfall could cause traffic disruptions.

In Lahore, the minimum temperature is expected to range between 14°C and 16°C on Tuesday and Wednesday, rising slightly to 15°C and 17°C on Thursday. Other districts in Punjab will also experience cooler temperatures, with the ongoing rains further reducing daytime warmth.

Over the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed in most districts of Punjab. However, Murree received 1 mm of rain, making it the coldest location in the province, where the minimum temperature was recorded at 5°C. The relative humidity in Murree stood at 70% in the evening.

In Lahore, the minimum temperature was recorded at 16°C, with relative humidity at 48% in the evening.

As intermittent rains continue, residents are advised to take precautions, particularly in regions prone to flash flooding or travel disruptions. The authorities urge travelers to stay updated on weather advisories and plan accordingly.
