The blockbuster Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, continues to dominate the box office, setting new milestones.
The film has amassed a staggering Rs 1,220 crore domestically and is inching closer to Rs 1,850 crore globally. Despite competition from fresh releases like Fateh, Game Changer, and Mufasa: The Lion King, Pushpa 2 maintains a steady performance across multiplexes and single screens.
Entering its sixth week, the film shows resilience at the box office. On day 39, it added an estimated Rs 2.35 crore to its collection, with the sixth weekend contributing Rs 5.5 crore. While these numbers mark a decline from its initial weeks, the film’s cumulative earnings remain impressive.
Its opening week garnered a record-breaking Rs 725.8 crore domestically, followed by Rs 264.8 crore in week two, Rs 129.5 crore in week three, Rs 69.65 crore in week four, and Rs 23.25 crore in week five.
Globally, Pushpa 2 is poised to surpass Rs 2,000 crore in the coming weeks. The film is also on track to challenge Dangal as one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.
However, the film’s performance in North America has been underwhelming. Its premiere and day-one earnings totaled US $1.39 million, with day two contributing an additional US $265,000.
The total North American collection stands at US $1.6 million (Rs 14.25 crore), far from the breakeven mark of US $4.5 million. Weak weekend bookings and walk-in ticket sales have further dampened its outlook.
To address these concerns, the production team plans to trim over seven minutes of runtime for a crisper version. Additionally, technical delays during premiere shows caused numerous cancellations.
The upcoming release of the “Reloaded” version on January 17 is expected to rejuvenate the film’s box office momentum, offering fans a fresh experience and potentially boosting its global collection.
