Rain Predicted in Lahore, Punjab Districts This Thursday

Islamabad, April 9, 2025 — The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that Lahore and several other districts across Punjab are likely to experience rainfall and thunderstorms on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

The weather system, influenced by a westerly wave and prevailing continental air, is expected to bring a shift in current climatic conditions.

According to the PMD, while most areas of Punjab will continue to see mainly hot and dry weather, scattered showers and thunderstorms are anticipated in various districts including Lahore, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, Talagang, Mianwali, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, and Faisalabad. The possibility of isolated hailstorms also exists, particularly in the northern and central parts of the province.

The weather forecast indicates that a continental air mass is currently dominating most regions of the country, while a fresh westerly wave is moving across the upper parts of Pakistan. This system is expected to affect the weather patterns in upper Punjab, bringing relief from the prevailing dry conditions and slightly reducing the temperature in certain areas, including Lahore.

For Wednesday night, the PMD also predicted mainly hot and dry weather in much of Punjab, with chances of rain-windstorm or thunderstorms in some areas, including Lahore, Multan, D.G. Khan, Gujranwala, and surrounding regions. These changing weather conditions are typical during the transition from spring to summer, when fluctuating temperatures and pressure systems often result in sporadic showers and gusty winds.

Residents of Lahore and other affected districts are advised to take necessary precautions in light of the expected weather changes, especially during thunderstorm activity. The rainfall may bring temporary relief from the heat but could also disrupt daily life, particularly in urban centers like Lahore where drainage systems are often overwhelmed.

Farmers and commuters are especially urged to stay updated with the latest weather advisories issued by the PMD, as the upcoming spell could impact agriculture activities and transportation in Punjab.
