PMD forecasts thunderstorms, gusty winds and isolated heavy rainfall in northern regions from Wednesday evening

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread hot and humid weather across most plain areas of the country on Wednesday, while predicting rain, windstorms and thunderstorms in several upper regions during the evening and night.

According to the latest weather advisory issued on Tuesday, most parts of Pakistan will continue to experience hot and dry conditions during the day. However, the plains are expected to remain under the grip of very hot and humid weather, increasing discomfort for residents and raising the risk of heat-related illnesses.

Rain, Windstorms Likely in Northern Areas

The PMD stated that rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms is expected in upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan and northeastern parts of Balochistan from Wednesday evening onward. Some locations may also receive isolated heavy rainfall.

Isolated heavy rainfall is also possible in some areas.

Weather in Sindh, Balochistan and Northern Regions

The PMD said Sindh will continue to experience mainly very hot and humid weather, while coastal districts are likely to remain partly cloudy.

In Balochistan, hot weather is expected across most districts, with central areas facing extremely high temperatures. However, Zhob, Sherani, Kohlu, Naseerabad, Harnai, Sibbi, Musakhel, Barkhan, Dera Bugti and Khuzdar may receive rain-windstorms and thunderstorms during the evening.

Meanwhile, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to witness partly cloudy conditions with isolated rain-thundershowers. Heavy rainfall is also likely at a few locations in Kashmir.
