Rihanna’s revelation about a huge vault of unreleased songs has failed to excite fans, who say they have waited long enough for her ninth album.
Rihanna has once again sparked excitement about her music career, only for fans to quickly turn hopeful anticipation into frustration.
The 38-year-old pop superstar recently revealed that she has a vast catalogue of unreleased music, reportedly containing more than 100 songs. The revelation initially delighted fans, who have been eagerly awaiting the follow-up to her 2016 album Anti.
However, the news soon prompted a wave of scepticism across social media. Fans pointed out that Rihanna has teased her long-awaited ninth studio album for years without delivering a release date.
Several fans took to X to joke about the seemingly endless wait, making it clear that they are no longer getting their hopes up about new music.
“Girl we have been waiting 7272627484 years,” one user wrote.
Another fan reacted to the size of Rihanna’s unreleased catalogue, saying, “That’s more than the amount of music we got from her all together.”
A third fan appeared particularly unconvinced, writing, “And she won’t be releasing any unless it’s for a kids movie so I guess we don’t care anymore atp.”
“Guuuurl drop it already. We’ve been waiting for ages,” another fan added.
The frustration continued, with one user writing, “She’s been doing this for 10 years like we’re tired girl.”
Another fan appeared to have given up completely, saying, “Keep it!!! Like she’s obviously never gonna release any of it.”
Rihanna has remained relatively quiet musically since Anti, although she has continued to tease fans about the possibility of her ninth album. Her recent comments about her extensive collection of unreleased material have therefore reignited the conversation around R9 — but, for many fans, patience appears to be wearing thin.
For now, Rihanna’s unreleased songs remain just that, leaving fans wondering when, or if, they will finally hear the music they have been waiting years for.
