Road to ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Begins in Italy

PkRevenue.com – The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 qualification process kicks off with the Europe Sub Regional Qualifier in Italy. Beginning on June 9, ten European teams will compete over a week-long event in Rome, with the victorious team progressing to the Europe Qualifier next year.

While global attention is on the early stages of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies, the Europe Sub Regional Qualifier A in Rome marks the start of the journey for teams aiming for the 2026 World Cup.

Matches will be played at two venues, the Roma Cricket Ground and the Simar Cricket Ground, featuring teams from Italy, Austria, France, Hungary, Isle of Man, Israel, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania, and Turkiye.

This qualifier consists of 24 matches spread across seven days, formatted into two groups of five teams each. The leading teams from each group will compete in a final match on June 16 to determine who moves forward in the qualification process.

In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, 20 teams will participate, with 12 securing automatic qualification. Hosts India and Sri Lanka, along with the top eight teams from the 2024 World Cup, will qualify directly. The remaining spots will be allocated based on the ICC Men’s T20I rankings as of June 30, 2024.

The Europe Sub Regional Qualifier A is one of three such events in the region this year, all of which contribute to determining the teams for next year’s Europe Qualifier. Similar qualifiers will occur in other regions later in 2024, with regional finals scheduled for 2025.
