Actress Sadie Sink says joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced her to a level of global attention she had not fully anticipated, as she prepares to make her debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The 24-year-old Stranger Things star, who is also set to appear in Avengers: Secret Wars, said she was aware of Marvel’s popularity but was still surprised by the scale of its worldwide fan base.

“I knew that Marvel was a big deal and had a big brand, especially Spider-Man,” Sink told Nylon magazine. “I know there’s a huge fan base, but it feels really big. I think these blockbuster movies are a whole different beast.”

Sink also praised her Spider-Man: Brand New Day co-star Tom Holland, saying the actor helped her settle into the production despite joining an established franchise.

“It was interesting stepping into that space and being a little bit of an outsider in that way, but he could not have been more welcoming,” she said. “He was just so relaxed and open, and I felt very at ease.”

Marvel Studios has yet to reveal which character Sink will portray in the film, fuelling widespread speculation among fans. Addressing the secrecy surrounding her role, the actress joked that keeping Marvel’s closely guarded secrets is straightforward.

“You just don’t share the secret, it’s not that hard,” she said, while adding that “there’s some truth” to the online rumours surrounding her character.

Sink also revealed that speculation linking her to the upcoming Spider-Man film began before she had officially joined the project, suggesting that some fan theories may have been partially accurate.

Holland recently described Spider-Man: Brand New Day as the most creatively satisfying film of his career, thanking the cast and crew for their work and support during production.

The upcoming superhero film also stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to arrive in cinemas later this year.
