KARACHI: The Election Commission of the SITE Association of Industry (SAI), chaired by Muhammad Tariq Yousuf, has announced the unopposed election of key office bearers for the 2024-26 term. Ahmed Azeem Alvi has been elected President, Khalid Riaz as Senior Vice President, and Muhammad Riaz Dhedhi as Vice President.
These appointments were confirmed during the 60th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association, held at the SAI office. The AGM was presided over by Chief Coordinator and former SAI President, Saleem Parekh, and attended by distinguished guests including Zubair Motiwala, Chairman of the Businessmen Group (BMG) and Patron-in-Chief of SAI.
The newly elected office bearers will officially assume their roles on 1st October 2024. President-elect Ahmed Azeem Alvi expressed his appreciation to the association’s members for their trust and support. In his remarks, he emphasized the pressing challenges faced by the SITE area, including deteriorating infrastructure and utility shortages. Alvi also urged active participation from members in the association’s future initiatives and assured them of his commitment to addressing their concerns.
Chief Coordinator Saleem Parekh congratulated the newly elected officials and acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing leadership, including President Muhammad Kamran Arbi, Senior Vice President Muhammad Hanif Tawakkal, and Vice President Farhan Ashrafi. He highlighted that while many young professionals are stepping into leadership roles, the guidance and experience of senior members and the outgoing Executive Committee would continue to be valuable.
Zubair Motiwala, Chairman of the BMG, welcomed the incoming leadership team and commended the outgoing office bearers for their dedication. He noted that while several issues have been addressed, the industry still faces numerous challenges that will require consistent effort and innovation.
Several prominent figures from the SITE Association were also present, including Jawed Bilwani, Younus Bashir, Majyd Aziz, and Tariq Yousuf, who expressed their gratitude to the outgoing team and extended a warm welcome to the new office bearers.
The AGM was also attended by esteemed guests from the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), including Iftikhar Ahmed Shaikh (President KCCI), Altaf A. Ghaffar (SVP KCCI), and Tanveer Ahmed Barry (VP KCCI), along with other town associations. They too expressed their appreciation for the outgoing leadership and welcomed the newly elected officials.
The SITE Association looks forward to a productive term under its new leadership, focusing on advocating for industrial needs and addressing challenges faced by its members.
