Samsung and Tesla Partner at CES 2024 for SmartThings Energy

Samsung Electronics has announced a strategic integration with Tesla, set to debut at CES 2024. This collaboration leverages Tesla’s open APIs to seamlessly connect SmartThings Energy with a range of Tesla products, including Powerwall home batteries, Solar Inverters, Wall Connector charging solutions, and electric vehicles (EVs).

By enhancing SmartThings Energy’s connectivity, this partnership aligns with Samsung’s overarching objective of delivering more convenient and integrated home experiences for consumers.

The primary advantage for consumers is the ability of SmartThings Energy to interface with Tesla Powerwall, Solar Inverter, Wall Connector charging, and EVs. This integration empowers users with real-time insights into their energy production, storage, and consumption patterns.

Moreover, the collaboration enables users to proactively address power disruptions and outages. SmartThings Energy syncs with the Tesla app’s “Storm Watch” feature, sending alerts during extreme weather events such as typhoons or heavy snowfall.

Users receive notifications on their connected Samsung TVs and mobile devices, supplementing the information available on the Tesla app. Additionally, users can activate the AI Energy Mode before and during outages to optimize the use of backup energy stored in the Tesla Powerwall.

Samsung’s incorporation of the Tesla API aligns with its commitment to advancing the Net Zero Home project and elevating the multi-device experience for SmartThings users.

The unveiling of SmartThings Energy connected to Tesla Powerwall will take place at the Samsung booth during CES® 2024. While the service is currently under development, the targeted launch is set for the second quarter of 2024. Please note that the features outlined above are subject to change.
