Samsung’s first clip-on earbuds offer AI-powered voice features, up to 38 hours of battery life and a design aimed at keeping users aware of their surroundings.
Samsung has announced the US launch of its Galaxy Buds On, its first pair of clip-on earbuds, with sales scheduled to begin in early November 2026. The earbuds will cost $229 in the US, while the company plans to introduce them in Europe in early 2027.
Unveiled earlier this month, the Galaxy Buds On are designed for users who want to listen to audio while remaining aware of their surroundings. Samsung says the earbuds combine hands-free convenience with an ergonomic design developed using artificial intelligence (AI) and physics simulations.
The company used more than 119 million ear data points to refine the earbuds for different ear shapes. Computational modelling helped optimise the speaker and battery layout, while adjustments to the band’s stiffness and shape aim to provide a secure, comfortable fit with reduced pressure around the ear.
Samsung has also introduced Audio Leakage Reduction technology to improve listening privacy. The feature uses reversed sound waves from the rear of the speaker to reduce audio escaping into the surrounding environment.
The Galaxy Buds On are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform. Each earbud features three microphones and a voice pickup unit that detects speech through bone and skin movement. Combined with Intelligent Clear Call, the system is designed to isolate the user’s voice and reduce background noise during calls.
Users can interact with Google Gemini hands-free, record thoughts through the Quick Voice Memo feature and accept or decline calls using head gestures.
Each earbud houses an 11.3mm driver and a 61mAh battery, delivering up to 9.5 hours of music playback or 5.5 hours of calling on a single charge. With the charging case, total battery life increases to 38 hours for music and 25 hours for calls.
Connectivity options include Bluetooth 6.2, while supported audio codecs comprise Samsung Seamless Codec, AAC, SBC and LC3. The earbuds also carry an IP54 rating for dust and sweat resistance.
With their clip-on design, AI-powered features and emphasis on environmental awareness, the Galaxy Buds On expand Samsung’s audio product range with an alternative to conventional in-ear earbuds.
