Samsung Galaxy S27 charging speed revealed ahead of launch

The Samsung Galaxy S27 has reportedly received UL Solutions certification confirming 25W wired charging, while wireless charging and battery capacity details remain unconfirmed.

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 has reportedly received certification from Denmark-based UL Solutions (Demko), providing further evidence that the smartphone will support 25W wired charging.

The certification follows the device’s appearance on China’s 3C certification platform last month, where the Samsung Galaxy S27, identified by model number SM-S9520, was listed with support for 25W charging.

According to the latest certification documents, multiple Samsung devices believed to belong to the Galaxy S27 series have been tested with an electrical rating of 9V DC and 2.77A. These specifications translate to approximately 24.93W, indicating that the handsets will likely be marketed with 25W charging support.

If confirmed, the charging speed would match that of the Galaxy S26, which Samsung announced in February. The reported specifications suggest that the company may retain its existing wired charging capabilities rather than introduce a significant upgrade for the next-generation model.

The Galaxy S26 also supports 15W wireless charging, and the upcoming Galaxy S27 is expected to offer the same wireless charging speed. However, Samsung has not officially confirmed the specifications of its next flagship smartphone.

Battery capacity remains another unanswered question. The Galaxy S26 features a 4,300mAh battery, but it is not yet clear whether Samsung will retain the same capacity for the Galaxy S27 or introduce a larger battery.

The latest certification adds to the growing collection of information emerging about Samsung’s next-generation flagship. Previously leaked computer-aided design (CAD) renders have also offered an early look at the phone’s possible design.

However, certification documents primarily confirm specific technical details and do not necessarily reveal the complete specifications of an upcoming device. Samsung has yet to announce the Galaxy S27 officially, meaning its final charging capabilities, battery capacity and other hardware features remain subject to change.

More details are expected to emerge as the smartphone moves closer to its anticipated launch.
