Samsung has started rolling out the latest One UI 6.1.1 update for its Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 devices.
While AI is the trending buzzword in the tech world, especially among smartphone makers, this update surprisingly lacks the highly anticipated new AI features seen in Samsung’s newer foldable models, such as Sketch to Image, PDF Overlay, and Instant Slow-mo.
The One UI 6.1.1 update, with a file size of 2.2GB and version ending in XH9, does come with the September 2024 security patch, improving the overall safety of the devices.
However, for users expecting the same AI functionalities as on the latest models, this update might feel underwhelming. Samsung appears to be selectively offering these AI features only to its most recent devices, following a trend set by other tech giants like Apple.
Despite the absence of new AI capabilities, the update introduces a few useful features. These include a new method for answering incoming calls, a convenient double-tap gesture to skip forward in videos by tapping the right side of the screen, and an enhanced Auto Blocker that offers better protection against malware and security threats. Additionally, users can now drag a picture-in-picture window to enter split-screen mode.
Samsung Health users will also benefit from improvements, such as more detailed sleep analysis, new wellness tips, and the option to create personalized workout routines.
The One UI 6.1.1 update is currently being rolled out across Europe and is expected to reach other regions in the coming days. While it may not include the AI advancements seen in newer models, the update still brings meaningful improvements to the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Flip3.
Users will need to wait for future updates or upgrade their devices to access Samsung’s cutting-edge AI features.
