Samsung Reveals Exynos W1000 Chipset for Galaxy Watch 7

Samsung has officially announced the Exynos W1000 chipset, poised to power the upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch 7 Ultra.

This early reveal highlights Samsung’s commitment to cutting-edge technology and innovation in the wearables market.

The Exynos W1000 represents a significant advancement over its predecessor, the 5nm W930. Built on Samsung’s state-of-the-art 3nm GAA (Gate-All-Around) process, the new chipset employs fan-out panel-level packaging (FOPLP), achieving a more compact form factor and superior heat dissipation. These enhancements are set to deliver a more efficient and powerful performance for wearable devices.

Utilizing the system in a package (SiP) methodology, the Exynos W1000 integrates the power management circuit and employs an embedded package on package (ePoP) design. This approach mounts the DRAM and NAND flash memory directly onto the system-on-chip (SoC), streamlining the architecture and boosting performance.

The CPU configuration includes a Cortex-A78 big core, capable of reaching speeds up to 1.6GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores running at up to 1.5GHz. Graphics processing is handled by a Mali-G68 MP2 GPU, supporting display resolutions up to 640×640 pixels. Additionally, the chipset boasts an integrated 32GB storage capacity, offering ample space for apps and data.

According to Samsung, the Exynos W1000 is nearly three times faster at opening apps compared to the W930, promising a more responsive and seamless user experience. One of the standout features of the new chip is its support for 2.5D always-on display technology, which enhances watch faces with richer details and improved visuals.

The Exynos W1000 is set to power not only the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra but could also be a candidate for Samsung’s rumored Galaxy Ring, indicating the company’s ambition to expand its wearable ecosystem.

With this announcement, Samsung continues to demonstrate its leadership in the tech industry, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in wearable technology. The Exynos W1000 is expected to set a new standard for performance and efficiency in smartwatches, delivering a superior user experience for consumers.
