Samsung has confirmed the integration of Galaxy AI in its next-generation foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6. These cutting-edge devices are slated to be officially unveiled in early July.
In a detailed blog post, Won-Joon Choi, Samsung’s EVP & Head of Mobile R&D Office, Mobile eXperience Business, outlined the company’s plans to enhance the Galaxy AI experience for these foldable models.
He stated, “Our foldables are the most versatile and flexible form factor in Samsung Galaxy, and when combined with Galaxy AI, these two complementary technologies will together unlock all new possibilities.”
Samsung is aiming to revolutionize mobile experiences with a “hybrid AI approach.” This strategy, deemed by Samsung as the most practical and reliable solution, aims to meet consumer needs while positioning the company ahead of its competitors.
The hybrid approach balances the instant responsiveness and privacy of on-device AI with the versatility of cloud-based AI. This is achieved through open collaborations with industry-leading partners, offering a variety of functions essential for daily life.
A significant advancement is the expansion of Samsung’s Live Translate AI feature to support third-party messaging apps and voice calls. This feature will be integrated into Samsung’s on-device AI language translation model, ensuring users can enjoy it without privacy concerns related to personal data being shared outside their devices.
Choi anticipates that more mobile AI features will be incorporated on-device as the capabilities of Neural Processing Units (NPUs) continue to advance rapidly. This evolution promises enhanced functionality and user experiences on Samsung’s latest foldable smartphones.
