Samsung Secures 18-Year Reign as Global TV Leader

Samsung Electronics has reaffirmed its undisputed leadership in the worldwide TV market, extending its remarkable streak to 18 consecutive years at the forefront of the industry.

According to the latest report from market research firm Omdia, Samsung secured an impressive 30.1% share of the global TV market in 2023, solidifying its position as the market leader since 2006. The key driver behind this success has been Samsung’s strategic emphasis on premium and large-screen TV categories, powered by its cutting-edge QLED and OLED models.

Since the launch of Samsung’s QLED TV lineup in 2017, including the latest Neo QLED models, cumulative sales have surpassed a remarkable 40 million units. In 2023 alone, the QLED lineup achieved exceptional sales of 8.31 million units.

Samsung’s dominance extends to the premium TV sector, particularly for TVs exceeding 75 inches and priced above $2,500. The company holds a remarkable 60.5% market share in sales for TVs priced above $2,500 and maintains a significant lead with a 33.9% sales share for TVs exceeding 75 inches. Notably, sales of 98-inch models have propelled Samsung to a 30.4% market share for TVs over 90 inches.

In addition to excelling in the ultra-large and high-end TV market, Samsung has made noteworthy strides in the OLED sector. The company’s OLED TV lineup achieved sales of 1.01 million units in 2023, securing a market share of 22.7%. With the expanded OLED lineup anticipated in 2024, Samsung’s dominance in the OLED sector is expected to escalate.

SW Yong, President and Head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, expressed pride in the company’s 18-year reign, stating, “We are proud to be recognized as the market leader in the global TV sector for 18 consecutive years, a testament to the enduring trust and loyalty our customers place in Samsung. We are deeply committed to advancing the industry, moving beyond exceptional picture quality to offer more meaningful and valuable experiences.”
