Samsung Unveils A16 5G with Unmatched Software Support

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A16 5G, a budget-friendly smartphone with several significant upgrades over its predecessor.

The most remarkable feature is the unprecedented 6 years of Android version updates, along with 6 years of security patches. This extensive software support is rare for budget devices, ensuring that the Galaxy A16 5G will stay up-to-date with the latest Android versions until October 2030.

The Galaxy A16 5G features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, offering smoother scrolling and clearer visuals. It ships with Samsung’s One UI 6.1 based on Android 14, providing users with a fresh and seamless interface.

Under the hood, the device is powered by either the Exynos 1330 processor in Europe or the Dimensity 6300 chipset in markets like India and Thailand.

It comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 1.5 TB. The Galaxy A16 5G is also slimmer than its predecessor, with a thickness of just 7.9 mm, although it no longer includes a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The phone is equipped with a triple-camera setup on the back, featuring a 50MP main camera, a 5MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, a 13MP selfie camera is housed in a waterdrop notch. It also comes with a 5,000 mAh battery supporting 25W charging, and is rated IP54 for water and dust resistance.

One standout feature is its 8.4/10 repairability score, matching that of the Galaxy A15 5G, making it easier to repair. A side-mounted fingerprint scanner doubles as the power button.

Available in Midnight Blue, Turquoise, and Gray, the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G is priced at €249 for the 4GB/128GB model in France, with shipments expected to start soon.
