Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition, offering significant improvements over the standard Z Fold6.
The new device, unveiled in South Korea, boasts larger displays, a slimmer design, and a powerful 200MP main camera, making it a major contender in the foldable market.
One of the standout features of the Z Fold6 Special Edition is its enhanced display. The cover screen has been upgraded to a 6.5-inch LTPO AMOLED 2X display, up from the previous 6.3 inches, with a 21:9 aspect ratio for a more natural bar phone feel.
The internal screen has also been expanded to 8 inches, with both displays offering a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The outer screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, though the much-rumored Ultra Flexible Glass (UFG) did not make it into this release.
In terms of design, the Z Fold6 Special Edition is slimmer and lighter than its predecessor. When unfolded, the device measures just 4.9mm thick, and when folded, it’s 10.6mm. It weighs 236 grams, slightly lighter than the standard Z Fold6. However, to achieve this svelte profile, Samsung had to omit S Pen support in the Special Edition.
The camera setup sees a significant upgrade with a new 200MP main camera equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS). This is a major improvement over the 50MP main camera found in the Z Fold6. The 12MP ultrawide camera now includes autofocus, while the 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom remains unchanged.
The dual selfie cameras include a 10MP sensor on the cover display and a 4MP under-display unit on the main screen.
Under the hood, the Samsung Z Fold6 Special Edition is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
It also introduces Wi-Fi 7 support and runs on One UI 6.1.1, based on Android 14, with seven years of promised software support. The battery remains a 4,400mAh unit with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.
Priced at KRW 2,789,600 (approximately $2,028/€1,868), the Z Fold6 Special Edition is currently exclusive to South Korea, with potential plans to launch in China.
