Samsung’s Tri-Fold Poised to Challenge Huawei’s Mate XT

Samsung is gearing up to take on Huawei’s tri-fold Mate XT with its innovative foldable smartphone. Reports have surfaced confirming that the South Korean tech giant is developing a tri-fold device designed to offer enhanced protection for the flexible screen when folded.

Unlike Huawei’s design, Samsung’s tri-fold concept promises a unique folding mechanism, setting it apart in the competitive foldable market.

The production of Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone is expected to be limited, with approximately 200,000 units slated for release. According to a new report from South Korea, the device will launch in the third quarter of the year, likely between July and September.

This timeline aligns with Samsung’s annual foldable device event, raising expectations that the tri-fold model will debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 in July.

Production for the tri-fold smartphone is scheduled to commence in the second quarter, spanning April to June.

The device’s screen is expected to unfold to a size of 9.9 to 10 inches, offering an expansive display for multitasking and media consumption. If launched as planned, Samsung will unveil four foldable devices this year, including the Galaxy Z Flip FE.

Another intriguing development concerns the Galaxy Z Fold7. Reports suggest that Samsung may remove the digitizer from this model to make it thinner and more competitive against rivals like Honor, which has gained an edge with its slim Magic V3 foldable.

This move highlights Samsung’s focus on addressing consumer demand for sleeker foldable devices.

As for hardware, details about the tri-fold smartphone’s chipset remain under wraps. However, speculation suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 may feature the Exynos 2500 processor, a chip initially excluded from the Galaxy S25 lineup due to production challenges.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip FE could incorporate the more affordable Exynos 2400e to cater to budget-conscious consumers.

With these advancements, Samsung is set to solidify its leadership in the foldable smartphone market, delivering innovative solutions that push the boundaries of mobile technology.
