Saudi authorities report no casualties after an administrative building linked to Saudi Aramco was targeted, as air defences intercept missiles and drones aimed at other locations.
RIYADH: An administrative building affiliated with Saudi Aramco was targeted in Dhahran in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province on Tuesday evening, October 13, 2026, triggering a limited fire but causing no injuries or fatalities, the Ministry of Energy said on Wednesday.
According to an official source at the ministry, the incident involved an administrative building associated with the state-owned oil giant in Dhahran. The source confirmed that the attack caused a limited fire, Saudi Gazette reported.
Relevant authorities responded immediately and took the necessary measures to address the incident, the ministry said, adding that no casualties had been reported.
The incident comes amid heightened security concerns following separate reports of missile and drone interceptions targeting locations in Saudi Arabia.
Houthi missile intercepted near Dhahran
Separately, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced that its air defences had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia towards Dhahran.
Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki said fragments from the intercepted missile fell in a residential area of Dhahran. Authorities were responding to the site, he added.
The coalition also reported intercepting and destroying another ballistic missile targeting Haradh Centre in Al-Ahsa Governorate.
In addition, three drones were intercepted north of Riyadh, according to the coalition.
The reported incidents prompted responses from the relevant authorities as security operations continued at the affected locations.
Authorities respond to security incidents
The targeting of the Aramco-linked administrative building and the reported missile and drone interceptions highlight ongoing security concerns in the region.
Saudi authorities have not reported any injuries or fatalities in connection with the fire at the Dhahran building. Further details about the damage to the facility and the circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately provided.
The Ministry of Energy confirmed that the necessary response measures had been taken, while the coalition said authorities were dealing with the aftermath of the missile interception in the residential area.
The incidents underscore the security challenges facing Saudi Arabia as it seeks to protect critical infrastructure and populated areas from aerial threats.
