SBP Announces Bank Holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025

Karachi, March 21, 2025 – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially announced the schedule for bank holidays in connection with Eid-ul-Fitr 2025.

As per the notification issued on Friday, all banks across the country, including the SBP, will remain closed from March 31st to April 2nd, 2025 (Monday to Wednesday), in observance of the Eid-ul-Fitr festivities.

The SBP emphasized the importance of this announcement, urging individuals and businesses to plan their financial transactions accordingly to avoid any inconvenience during the extended holiday period. The central bank reiterated its commitment to ensuring seamless banking services and advised commercial banks to make all necessary arrangements to maintain uninterrupted access to cash withdrawal facilities.

To facilitate the public, the SBP has strictly instructed all banks to ensure that Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) remain fully operational during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. Given the increased financial activity before and during Eid-ul-Fitr, the SBP has directed commercial banks to replenish ATMs regularly, preventing any shortage of cash. The central bank has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy regarding ATM malfunctions and has urged citizens to immediately report any instances of non-functional ATMs to the relevant authorities.

Eid-ul-Fitr is a time of celebration, with people engaging in shopping, purchasing gifts, and preparing traditional foods. The SBP recognizes the heightened demand for cash during this festive period and has assured the public that all necessary measures will be taken to facilitate smooth financial transactions. Customers are encouraged to utilize alternative digital banking channels such as mobile banking, internet banking, and branchless banking services to minimize reliance on physical cash.

The SBP remains committed to ensuring the public faces no banking-related disruptions during Eid-ul-Fitr. Citizens are advised to complete any essential banking transactions before the holidays commence to avoid any last-minute inconveniences. The SBP’s proactive approach aims to support the public in enjoying a hassle-free and joyous Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.
